X Launches Cashtag Trading in the U.S., Opening Stocks, ETFs, and Crypto From the Timeline
X has rolled out a U.S. Cashtag Partner Program that lets users move from ticker symbols on the platform to trading flows for stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies through participating brokerage partners, including Coinbase and Kraken. The feature turns Cashtags into interactive market pages with price charts and related posts, then routes users to a partner app or website to complete the transaction.
What the new Cashtag feature does
The update adds a “Trade” option to supported Cashtags, giving U.S. users a more direct path from market conversation to execution. When a user taps a supported ticker, X shows the asset’s price chart and related posts, then offers a handoff to a participating brokerage partner where the user can log in or sign up and place the trade.
- Supports stocks, ETFs, and cryptocurrencies.
- Surfaces market data and social discussion in one place.
- Routes the user to a partner brokerage for execution rather than trading inside X itself.
Who the launch partners are
At launch, X says the U.S. program includes five brokerage partners: Interactive Brokers, Moomoo, Gemini, Kraken, and Coinbase. The setup varies by asset type, with Coinbase and Kraken positioned for crypto access, while the other partners expand the broader trading network.
- Coinbase, crypto trading partner.
- Kraken, crypto trading partner.
- Gemini, crypto trading partner.
- Interactive Brokers, brokerage partner.
- Moomoo, brokerage partner.
How the user flow works
X’s Cashtags now function as clickable market gateways. Users can search for or post a Cashtag, tap it to view price information and related conversation, and then use the new Trade button to continue to a partner platform where the trade is completed.
- Find an asset by searching for or posting a Cashtag.
- Tap the supported Cashtag to open the asset page.
- Review the price chart and related posts.
- Select Trade to choose a participating partner.
- Log in or create an account on the partner platform and complete the trade.
Why the launch matters
The Cashtag update pushes X further into financial discovery and trading infrastructure by connecting social chatter with brokerage access. For users, it reduces friction between seeing an asset discussed on the timeline and acting on it, while still keeping execution with regulated partners rather than on X itself.
For X, the feature strengthens the platform’s role as a financial information layer, especially for users who already follow market discussions, crypto trends, and stock tickers in real time.
Conclusion
X’s Cashtag Partner Program gives U.S. users a faster path from market conversation to trade execution, with Coinbase and Kraken among the key partners at launch. By turning ticker symbols into interactive destinations, X is blending social discovery, market data, and brokerage handoff into a single experience.
X’s real product isn’t trading access, it’s attention conversion: it is turning speculation into a monetizable action layer before users ever leave the feed. That makes Cashtags less like a finance feature and more like a behavioral funnel, where social proof and market urgency can subtly reshape how people enter trades.
