Telegram's First 2026 Update: AI Summaries and Liquid Glass Revolutionize the App
Telegram kicks off 2026 with its most innovative update yet, introducing AI-powered summaries for channels and Instant View pages alongside a stunning Liquid Glass interface fully implemented on iOS. These features prioritize user productivity, privacy, and visual appeal, setting a new standard for messaging apps.
AI Summaries: Stay Productive with Instant Insights
Long channel posts now feature AI-generated summaries right at the top, allowing users to quickly grasp key points without reading every detail. Tapping the summary expands to the full original content, making it easy to catch up on news or discussions.
Instant View pages, Telegram's fast-loading article viewer, also display an automatic AI summary at the top. This helps users decide if the full article is worth their time, boosting efficiency for busy readers.
What sets these summaries apart is their privacy focus. They run on open-source models hosted on Cocoon, a decentralized network where every request is securely encrypted. Cocoon protects user data and can even integrate into other AI apps, with developer docs available for customization.
Liquid Glass Interface: A Visual Upgrade for iOS
Telegram's iOS app now fully embraces Liquid Glass, Apple's advanced design language with transparent elements and beautiful refraction effects throughout the interface. From chats to settings, the app feels more dynamic and modern.
Users gain control over these effects via Settings > Power Saving, letting them dial back visuals for better performance and battery life. This balance ensures the eye-catching design does not compromise usability.
While Android users await their Liquid Glass rollout, spotted in betas, iOS leads with this polished implementation.

The team shared New Year wishes for a year of innovation and achievement, signaling more exciting updates ahead.
Availability and How to Get Started
These features roll out in Telegram version 12.3.0 and above.
- Android: Download from Google Play Store or APK at telegram.org/android.
- iOS: Update via the App Store.
AI summaries work across platforms soon, with Android and others catching up quickly.
Why This Update Matters for Telegram Users
Telegram's first 2026 update blends cutting-edge AI with sleek design, all while upholding its core promise of privacy and speed. Whether summarizing endless channels or dazzling with Liquid Glass, it enhances daily messaging without overwhelming users. Expect this to redefine how millions stay connected and informed.
Telegram's embrace of Liquid Glass signals a risky homogenization of messaging apps under Apple's aesthetic hegemony, potentially eroding its platform-agnostic identity as Android users revolt against the iOS-mimicking redesign. By prioritizing visual mimicry over truly cross-platform innovation, it invites user fatigue in an era where privacy and utility should trump fleeting design trends.
